Sam Brothers is a young singer-songwriter and folksinger now living in Canterbury.
He was discovered while busking in Brighton, a wandering troubadour that calls to mind the Soho and Greenwich Village coffee bar scene in the late 1960s and early ’70s.
His guitar playing is confident and complex, reflecting the many influences on his music; from Leadbelly to Johnny Cash, Woody Guthrie, and Bob Dylan. Bert Jansch can be heard in his guitar style while the influences of Tim Buckley, Pete Seeger, and, in particular, Nick Drake loom large.
This show is part of the launch tour for Sam’s excellent new EP, ‘The Folksinger’, and Sam will be joined on the night by special guest Dick Taylor on guitar. As a founding member of the Rolling Stones and cult rock group The Pretty Things, Dick Taylor has gained an array of admirers over the years from Dave Gilmour to Van Morrison.
