Springle is a brand-new springtime event for Wealden, inviting communities to come together through performance, creativity and shared experiences.
Taking place across two weekends, Springle Hailsham opens on Saturday 18 April with a striking outdoor spectacle on Hailsham High Street. Audiences can experience Lampadophores, a joyful procession by French street theatre company Picto Facto, featuring giant inflatable puppets, live music and acrobatic performers that transform the town centre into a playful, immersive experience for all ages.
Springle Uckfield continues on Saturday 25 April at Luxford Field, Uckfield, a free daytime celebration designed especially for families and the community. Visitors can enjoy walkabout performance, storytelling and hands-on activities in a relaxed outdoor setting, with everyone invited to take part in a craft-making workshop and joyful parade.
Rooted in accessibility, creativity and local pride, Springle brings people together in familiar public spaces, celebrating the arrival of spring through culture, participation and shared experiences across Wealden.

Expect to see Mahogany Carnival Arts bring bold parade energy, while Richard Storybeard shares magical tales inside his yurt and Ben Watson delivers lively children’s comedy in Mind the Monsters.
Anusha Subramanyam of Beeja blends Indian storytelling and dance, Circo Rum BaBa’s stilt performers tower above the crowd, and Dan the Hat keeps audiences laughing with fast-paced juggling and tricks.
The UK African Acrobats showcase extraordinary strength and skill, and Pongo, the mischievous giant puppet, roams the field, delighting families. The day ends with a joyful community parade where everyone is encouraged to take part.
